Colors Come from God ...
Just Like Me!

Published by Abingdon Press, this book is an excellent way for fostering a child’s racial self-esteem. The story is told by an African-American girl who tells of many things God created and their beauty in the diversity of colors God gave them.

“The Bible says that God made us from dust upon the ground; and God made me a beautiful brown! ... God spoke a word, and all things came to be! Fish, birds, the sea, and stars, then God made kids like me.”

As a father of young children, I have come to know the importance of affirming and reaffirming for children their individual self-worth. I want them to know, as this book affirms, line after line, how important they are in God’s eyes. Because we have for too long abandoned the principles of sound biblical teaching, this treasure of possibilities for uplifting children will go far to remind us of who we really are in the eyes of God. In this inspirational storyline, Carolyn Forché takes us back (both adults and children) to time-honored principles. Most importantly, she backs them up with illustrated verses from the Bible, for our easy reference and to carry out our divine mandate to pass “THE WORD” on to our children.
